Throw a Super Bowl Party
Seattle is fully engulfed in Seahawks fever! Everywhere you go, it’s all about the Seahawks and the 12th Man fans! That NFC Championship game was nuts — the Seahawks somehow pulled out the win. It was exciting, even for me because I don’t really follow football. I may not know much about the game, but I do know how to throw a good party.
Check out my straight-forward ideas for throwing an amazing Super Bowl party (or Super Bowl Widows Party). It’s not about decking out your house and making your table look like a football field. I just like to have good food (healthy, since we are still working on our New Year’s resolutions) and a great signature cocktail. The rest will come because you’ll be surrounded by great friends!
- Depending on the amount of guests, have more than one TV set up. I like to have the main TV in the family room, but also have one in the dinging room/kitchen and one in the living room. This way not everyone has to be crowded around one tv, and if you leave the room, you won’t miss anything.
- Have a self-serve menu. You won’t be stuck in the kitchen. I’m making my BBQ Chicken Lettuce Wraps.
- Even if you aren’t a big fan like me and you don’t have any football décor, you can use anything that is in your team colors; blue and green napkins, balloons, etc. (Note: Local stores right now have great supplies of Super Bowl and Seahawk items, like Bartell’s where I purchased the Super Bowl Napkins and Plates.)
- Have a signature cocktail and a non-alcoholic version ready for everyone. I’ll be serving my Hail Bloody Mary’s. More about that tomorrow.
- The number one tip is to just enjoy the day with your friends and family even if your team isn’t playing.
