Shaun’s Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa
Who doesn’t love hot cocoa? There is something super comforting and decadent about warm chocolate, milk and other flavors. This recipe marries luscious hot cocoa with my salted caramels and I can assure you, the combination is delightful — as the guests at my Jingle Mingle can attest.

This recipe marries luscious hot cocoa with my salted caramels and I can assure you, the combination is delightful.
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 10-12 salted caramels (mine are the best, but any brand will work)
- 4 cups 2% milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- Splash of vanilla
- 1 teaspoon grey sea salt
Instructions
- In a 2 or 2 1/2 quart saucepan, combine the chocolates, caramels and milk. Over medium-low heat, slowly heat the mixture until everything is melted, stirring occasionally.
- Add in the remaining ingredients and then continue to heat until the temperature is to your liking.
Notes
- Serve in a mug with either fresh whipped cream or homemade marshmallows. Of course, you can make this “adult hot cocoa” by adding your favorite liqueur, such as an Irish cream or marshmallow vodka.
