Spicy Sweet Smoky Margarita
There is something about tequila and a margarita that just goes with Latin-inspired foods. As you probably know, I love margaritas. For example, my Desert Margarita is a go-to for me, but every now and then I like to change it up.
I have a bottle of spicy jalapeño vodka. I love to come up with new versions of classic cocktails, so I thought, why not incorporate the spicy flavors into a classic margarita?
I find that adding the spicy vodka with the already classic sweet and sour flavors in margaritas really adds some great depth. I’ve gone one step further by rimming the glass with some smoky salt. Spicy, sweet and smoky — this cocktail has every flavor profile and it’s delicious!
- 2 ounces tequila
- ½ ounce jalapeño vodka
- ½ ounce triple sec
- ½ ounce agave
- ½ ounce lime juice
- ice
- salt/smoked salt for rimming (teaspoon of each mixed together)
- lime wedge garnish
- Rim a glass with the lime and then dip into the salt mixture.
- Place the tequila, jalapeño vodka, triple sec, agave and lime juice along with ice into a martini shaker. Shake and pour into rimmed glass along with the ice and top off with more ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
